I’ve described this sort of thing before, but that was before the Radio 2 web redesign. This post describes my recording setup and the various scripts I use to do the recording and extract the song lists. This makes the site much easier to use, and it also gives me an opportunity to automate my recordings. In the past couple of months, Radio 2 revamped its web site the web pages for all the shows now have a uniform layout, with links to the Listen Again streams and lists of the songs played. And, of course, I’ve been working on ways to automate the process. More recently, I’ve been copying the tracklists from some shows’ web pages and adding that to the iTunes Lyrics field so I can quickly look up the song I’m listening to. I import the recordings into iTunes and transfer them to my iPod or iPhone to listen to while biking, driving, or working. I’ve put everything in a GitHub repository to make it easy to download all at once.įor years I’ve been recording BBC Radio 2’s music shows with Rogue Amoeba’s Audio Hijack Pro. Audio Hijack will start capturing audio from your specified sources, and the Broadcast block will stream it to your Icecast server.While all the logic and thinking behind the scripts in this post is still true, the scripts themselves have been updated. To start broadcasting, click the "Run" button in the lower left of the Audio Hijack Session window. This is not the URL of your Icecast Server or Stream URL! URL: An URL where more information about the stream broadcasted can be found.That can be set in the “Track Titles” area. Note that this should not contain metadata like currently playing Artist/Title. The port where the server is listening, usually this is 8000, if not changed in the Icecast config. This is not a web URL, so it should not start with Port The hostname where your server is running. Select “Icecast 2” here to stream to an Icecast 2 server. Here's an overview of the relevant fields: Once you've got your pipeline set, you'll need to configure the Broadcast block to stream audio to your server,Ĭonfigure the Broadcast block with your relevant server information: Audio effects can also be applied to this audio before it's sent to a streaming server with the Broadcast block. Audio Hijack can capture audio from hardware devices like microphones, as well as other software applications running on the Mac. To set up a broadcast, you'll construct an audio pipeline which includes a Broadcast block. The free download provides time-limited trial, with the option to buy the full, unlimited version.
